Early 1980s
The Extramet carbide story began with tungsten carbide manufacturing in Switzerland.
1998
Extramet Products was founded to supply precision-ground tungsten carbide material.
2000
Extramet Products moved to its current Latrobe, Pennsylvania facility, adding production space.
2002
Extramet added ground step blanks, giving customers a closer-to-finished starting form.
2012
Extramet invested in CNC grinding equipment, broadening blank preparation.
2016
A 10,000-square-foot expansion added room for CNC capacity and production growth.
2021
Extramet added automated grinding technology to step-blank preparation.
